The internet nearly cracked itself in half a couple months ago over the identity of the villain of Star Trek Into Darkness. Trekkers were trying to figure out if it was going to be a new take on Gary Mitchell, from the pilot episode, or Khan. Director J. J. Abrams will not reveal who the Enterprise crew face in the new film.
I would argue that the new Star Trek film is one of - if not the - most highly anticipated films of 2013.
Now, even though he said he wasn't going to do it, there is word that Abrams is going from the future to "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away".
Though he has previously denied his involvement with the franchise, The Wrap is reporting that J.J. Abrams has agreed to direct Star Wars: Episode Seven.
Abrams beat out Quentin Tarantino and Ben Affleck for the gig. Ben Affleck is making quite the reputation as a director if you believe the rumors. The Argo director has been mentioned as the director of the 2015 live-action Justice League film that is set to go up head-to-head against The Avengers sequel for a slice of the box office pie. Affleck had said he hadn't been asked to take on that job.
