Founded and established by families who have faced childhood cancer themselves, Brighter Tomorrows exists to provide emotional, spiritual, and educational support by listening to, understanding, and supporting families touched by childhood cancer.
Ray Lunasin is raising $10,000 for Brighter Tomorrows by taking on the "Ironman 70.3 Triathlon", a long-distance triathlon consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bicycle ride and a 13.1 mile run. You can support him here (click "here"), or by taking the kids to a movie, Saturday June 1st!
Kate Upton, one of the "it" models of the moment, appears in a sexy new teaser ad for Mercedes' Super Bowl commercial, and some are criticizing it as tacky and tasteless. The ad starts with a slow pan of upward of a scantily-clad (I beg to differ! It is only her upper torsothat is "suggestively" not "scantily" - that's the word I would use - "suggestively" - suggestively-clad. I'm pretty sure she's wearing clothes below the waist, but I can't remember, I'll have to watch the video again.) Upton and then the screen goes blank before the words appear: "Kate Upton washes the New Mercedes CLA -- in Slow Motion." Upton then appears again, suggestively blowing bubbles out of her hand, and then the camera shifts over and we see that she is actually supervising a bunch of awestruck men in football jerseys who are the ones actually washing the car as they gape at her -- in slow motion. Brand expert and Forbes advertising blogger Dean Crutchfield told Yahoo! Shine that it's a, quote, "very risky" move for a luxury brand like Mercedes. He said, To have an ad that would be perceived as crass? That would potentially have a negative impact. The other side of it, though, is it stands out. And you want to do that."
You decide! Watch the video as many times as you need to to come to a conclusion and let me know. I may not get back to you right away, I may be trying to come to my own conclusions.
