Universal Marine & RV ‘ s Local Heroes Event is being held again this year in
Scott Kunz, General Manager of Universal stated that the event was initially to bring attention to the commitment of the people in our communities who work to protect us daily and to help ensure a safe and prosperous future. The community response the last three years has been phenomenal and the participation of local businesses and groups has expanded greatly.
Mayo One helicopter is scheduled to be on the lot from 10 to 3 on Saturday again this year. Police vehicles, Military vehicles, Ambulance, Fire Trucks, Rescue vehicles, Highway Patrol units, even a train box car from the 40 & 8 club will be on site for the public to view.
Universal worked with their suppliers and vendors, as well as other local businesses to put together over $20,000 of prizes that were given out to the Local Heroes in daily drawings last year. This years prize total is expect to surpass last year’s totals. “Our major RV supplier, Wildwood, has donated 6 Flat Screen TV’s for the drawing.”, stated Kunz. “We also have many other prizes from Gas Grills, Event Tickets, Gift Cards, and more donated by our vendors and local business to be given away in the drawings.”
The first 500 people that attend will be given a commemorative T-shirt compliment of Tracker Boats. A sheet of coupons for items or discounts from other local businesses will be give to every “Hero” who attends.
There will also be food and beverages served during the event. The Ye Olde Butcher Shoppe, Canadian Honker, VFW, and Hostess have helped supply and serve the food to be given out during the three day event.
